"Achieve"
Joao Hudson - Interview
How many years have you been playing guitar?
I can’t exactly remember when I started but more or less I started around my 12’s or 13’s, so 11 or 12 years.
If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?
“Achieve”
Which is the part you enjoy the most about playing guitar?
Expressing feelings. For me, it is unique in the guitar. Everyone has their way to express through art, or anything else, but for me, when I pick up a guitar and I feel completely comfortable, I love to let the melody and harmony flow. It’s marvelous.
What does music means to you?
If it didn’t exist, I would be a wanderer. It’s the balance and color of life. If it was inexistent, the world would be colorless for me.
What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?
I imagine myself with tons of recorded albums, touring around the world.
Do you believe in the power of connecting people that music is given?
I believe and yes that happens. When you meet someone with the same taste of music as you, you’ll feel an instant connection, even if they doesn’t have anything in common. Great relationships can happen through that.
How do you see yourself in 5 years? and in 10?
On stage. Definitely.
What would you say to all those people who say to artists “Don’t try it is not worth it?
To never give up. It’s easy to say it is not worth the try. You’ll have to work hard all the time if you want to achieve anything, in music it’s the same. Look at Miles Davis, for example, his father wanted him to be a dentist. If he, for some reason, had given up on his dreams, he wouldn’t get anywhere on music. And that’s only one example. Work hard to achieve your goals, your dreams. It’s normal to have obstacles, but the only one who can stop it from achieving all, is you.
If you could change the world, what would you do?
That’s a hard question. The way I see it, unfortunately the world is what it is in order to have some sort of balance. I’m not happy to know there are people starving out there, homeless, sick and so on, but unfortunately that exists for some kind of reason… If I could change anything, I would take all the diseases out of this world and give food and a place to live to every single human being and all the homeless animals, if they didn’t have or couldn’t get it for unfortunate circumstances.
