Interview
You’ve already made an impact in both modeling and dance at just 12 years old. How did you first discover your passion for performing?
Since I was 4 or 5 I’ve always loved being on stage. I started competing and won lots of trophies and medals and winning is nice, but the real reward is how much I grow as a dancer and a person.
You’ve walked the runway for Drisha’s Closet at LAFW multiple times. What do you enjoy most about being on the runway?
Everything! It feels so special to have the designer choose me to model their line of clothing or gowns and it makes me feel great to be out there on the runway.
As a dancer, you’ve performed for different artists and projects, including Hiphopdreamz. What has been your favorite performance experience so far?
Lots of favorite moments happen before I even hit the stage. The team bonding and being able to work with amazing choreographers makes every performance memorable and special. I’m currently on tour with Ashwin Gane and will be dancing at the Los Angeles Rams game as one of his selected dancers.
Your Zigazoo channel “Good Morning With Kassy” has over 140,000 subscribers. What inspired you to start creating content there?
“Good Morning with Kassy” started as like a fun little space for me to make GRWM but then turned into something much bigger. Now I receive products to review, toys, merch and I even host my own challenges for kids to earn prizes too. I was one of the very first creators to take to the app and it just skyrocketed from there!
How do you come up with fresh and creative ideas for your videos that keep your audience engaged?
I just post everyday life stuff that’s relatable or funny. Lots of box reviews to get other tweens excited about new products that collab with Zigazoo .
You’re a proud member of the Luiseño tribe and actively volunteer in your community. What do those traditions and contributions mean to you?
It means a lot to me to represent my heritage and culture. So, I know I’m honoring my ancestors by keeping old traditions alive.
From helping with Thanksgiving dinner donations to participating in Earth Day events, how do you feel these experiences have shaped you as a person?
Volunteering is such a simple way to give back and it’s actually really fun to load all the trucks up and see the families faces when we start unloading the trucks. It gives me a happy feeling knowing I cared for someone other than myself and made someone’s holiday.
You also advocate against bullying. Why is this cause important to you, and what message would you like to share with others your age?
I feel like kids and teens should feel safe to be themselves. My Mom told me to include new kids who look lost or alone on the first day of school and I did and we still talk when I see them in the hallways! Kindness goes a long way .
Balancing school, performances, and content creation must be a challenge. How do you manage your time and energy?
I make sure I always have a rest day! I like to bed rot to recharge. Or just hang with friends. If I have a Saturday or Sunday off I go to breakfast with my parents. I used to dance 7 days a week now it’s down to 3 or 4 depending on what event I have coming up. And if I’m paid for an event, I practice on my own daily. It’s modeling season right now so my focus is pulled towards that.
Looking ahead, what are some dreams or goals you hope to achieve in the next few years in modeling, dance, or beyond?
I’d love to be on a dance show or an extra in a movie! Or make an appearance on a game show [wink wink] – I may have something in the works! So, keep up with me on my socials.
