Interview

When did you start to get interested in music?

I’ve always been involved with music throughout my childhood, but I didn’t start taking a great interest in singing until the age of 5-6, that’s when I started singing lessons. But prior to that I always sung and tried playing various instruments.

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

Never give up.

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

I love performing. I always have. It’s what drove me to be where I’m at now and also in general, creating and sharing what you’ve built with others. The ability to form bonds and connect with people without limits is incredible.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

It’s helped me not only grow as an individual but I’ve gotten the chance to learn more about myself, and find my truths. It’s also given me the chance of closure, something that I’ve wanted but could never truly receive.

What does music mean to you?

It means connection. Writing music and performing it, releasing it, and sharing it is the way I connect with people, without barriers limiting the opportunity and outlet to connect.

Who are your idols?

Celine Dion and Billie Eilish. I really look up to those artists. They started at a young age and built themselves with almost nothing but a dream and support. And that really inspires me, because truly all you need for success is the right mindset, a good structure to help you stand on, and a drive to keep pushing forward, no matter what life throws at you.

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

I absolutely love social justice, the ability to voice what is not spoken is incredible. I also love biology, I would love to be a doctor or work in the forensic field.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

There’s definitely been a spike, now with social media and the form of connection through the online world, there is so many more opportunities to be “discovered” or seen by others.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

To always be true to myself and genuine.

Which are your upcoming projects?

I have just recently released my original album Lucid Thoughts. I have currently applied for a Juno nomination and am keeping my fingers crossed that I get nominated, as it is one of my dreams. I’m currently working on my second original album which I’m hoping to release in the spring.
