Interview
When did it all start?
With my friend Graham Wardle on Heartland. I was asked to put on a songwriting contest for the 2010 Olympics and Graham was brought in as a celebrity judge. We quickly became friends and he invited me to hang out on set. I can’t say I was immediately hit with the desire to be an actor but after some encouragement and being put on the spot, I have come to really enjoy the craft.
If you were an advertisement, what would your slogan be?
Loving people first focuses passion to serve God well
What does your career mean to you?
A career in film means I get to meet new people every show, learn what makes them who they are, and be challenged to discover and express things as someone I may or may not agree with. This means I often get to see things from another perspective.
What is your main motivation?
Loving people.
What is the part you enjoy the most? And the worst?
The part I enjoy most about being an actor would be getting together with others to create a scene that evokes an emotion from the viewer.
My least favorite is probably memorizing lines that may not flow well for me.
My least favorite is probably memorizing lines that may not flow well for me.
Who are your idols?
I don’t consider other people idols. That can be a very dangerous place to see people from. That said, I have great respect for Ed Norton, Anthony Hopkins, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Kate Beckinsale, Sandra Bullock, too many to list.
In case you need a break in your career, what else would you like to do?
Music, I have been a songwriter for most of my life.
Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?
I think it’s important to create opportunity. Build a community and start making stuff.
What would your idyllic life be like?
Wandering the world meeting new people every day, helping them with whatever they need and sharing our stories.
What are your next projects?
My good friend Jesse Hutch and I created an action-comedy, buddy cop series called “Fox and Hunter”. Jesse plays Blake Fox and I play John Hunter. We are hoping to start filming soon. Can’t say too much just yet but I will say we made it really fun and action packed.
