Interview

Jazzy, you started performing at just four years old! What do you remember most about those early days in competitive dance?

Something I remember most would probably be how much we traveled in a year for competitions and how much we trained every day after school. It definitely taught me a lot because I would spend half my day at school and then the rest of the day at dance, so I had to try and figure out the balance between School and training. Performing since I was a kid made it extremely easier for me to perform live, it just comes so naturally to me now, which I’m thankful for because it really builds that connection with me and the audience.

From dancing and singing to acting and hosting — how do you balance being a true triple threat in the entertainment world?

Balancing being a triple threat in the entertainment world is very important to me because it keeps me well-rounded in all aspects of my career. It allows me to express different sides of my creativity and constantly challenge myself to grow. It also gives me the freedom to explore different career paths without feeling stuck in one lane.

Your time with Mini Pop Kids was huge — touring internationally, recording albums… What was that experience like for you?

Touring, recording albums, and my lifestyle in general was pretty intense as a kid – it was an experience that definitely shaped me to be the artist I am today. Experiencing that type of Lifestyle when you’re that young really adapts you to knowing all aspects of the industry. We would be in recording studios, on set filming, and doing TV interviews, and that was what we did every day for many years. It was definitely a big change, but after the first couple of months It became normal for me. The more time I spent with the cast, the more they felt like family and that matters a lot to me.

You’ve recently stepped into film with Mi Loca Quinceañera and The Best You Can. How has acting added to your artistic journey?

Something most people don’t know is that when I was a kid I actually started with acting and then moved into music a couple of years later, so it’s always come naturally to me. Acting has added a lot to my artistic journey because my music has also been incorporated into it. For example, I’ve worked on a lot of film soundtracks as well as being a part of the cast in that movie. It gets me involved with all aspects of the project, and it’s something that keeps me very focused as I have double the amount of work I have to put into it.

You’re now launching your solo music career with producer Andrew Lane. How would you describe your sound and your message as a solo artist?

One of the individuals I’m most thankful for in my career is Andrew Lane. Ever since the first day I went to the studio, we’ve just been constantly working on my music and giving it my all to pursue this. I would describe my sound as bright and uplifting, and honestly even therapeutic because I feel like the lyrics can really resonate with people. Every song I write is about a situation that I’ve experienced, but I try to encourage my listeners to choose a situation that is like the song lyrics so they can connect to the song on their own level. It holds a special place within them, and it’s something they can relate to when they hear my song.

With over 149k followers, your fans clearly love connecting with you. How has social media shaped your relationship with your audience?

I’ve had a strong social media presence ever since I was a kid, so my relationship with my audience comes very easy to me. It never feels like I’m talking to a screen, it feels like I have genuine people that follow me and are interested in what I’m doing in my day to day life as well as my career. Not only that but when I’m writing songs and sharing them online my audience can connect to it on their own level, so it makes me feel closer with them.

You’re really involved in giving back — from helping fire victims to speaking out for mental health and animal welfare. What drives your passion for activism?

One of the most important things to me is giving back. When the fires occurred in Los Angeles I donated all the proceeds from my show in February to all the fire victims. This meant a lot to me because performing to me isn’t a job, it’s something I genuinely love and if I can help as many people as I can going through this time that is my priority. On top of that, I knew a lot of people that were affected by the fires, so having that deeper connection with them and just hearing what they went through incredibly opened my eyes and everyone coming together in LA to help each other was very special to see. I think we need to continue doing that, not just in LA but everywhere around the world.

Growing up in the spotlight can be intense. How have you stayed grounded through it all?

I feel like it’s something that I got used to easily because I feel like kids can easily adapt to changes easier than someone older would because you become so set in your ways. I’ve tried my best to stay grounded Through it all, but especially being in this industry since I was a kid, you can definitely have some bad days here and there. In my opinion, those days are the ones that keep me grounded because I learn a lot from them. I’m happy I learned this at a young age because it’s taught me a lot.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you outside of performing?

Something people might be surprised to learn about me outside of performing is that I’m actually from Toronto, Canada. I’ve grown up there my whole life, until 2021 I moved to Los Angeles. I still have most of my family back in Canada, so I visit a lot. I miss the snowy winters in Canada but I’ve acclimated to the warm LA winter pretty quickly.

Finally, what can fans expect next from Jazzy Fauchère — new music, more acting, something unexpected?

There’s definitely going to be a lot coming out this year music-wise, I’ve been constantly in the studio, so I’m going to be releasing a lot of new music soon. Out of all my music, my upcoming songs that I’m going to be releasing are ones that I hold very close to me because I am showing vulnerability through my writing and sharing things with the world that I’ve experienced through music. Some of those songs that I’m going to be releasing will have very talented artists collaborating with me on the songs, so definitely stay tuned for that!

I don’t want to spoil too much, but I will be appearing on some shows and films this year that I’m very excited about, and I can’t wait to talk about it once I can give more details.
