Interview

Your transformation from being $60,000 in debt to building a $6 million real estate portfolio in just nine months is remarkable. What was the turning point that sparked this profound change in your life?

The turning point that sparked the profound change in my life was the moment I decided that I was willing to do whatever it took to transform my life. I made the decision that I was not OK being broke, working night shifts, being away from my family, and still not being financially free. I was willing to do whatever it took. The turning point was meeting my mentor and being willing to change everything about the way that I think so that I could create a life I wanted to live. When I committed to my mentor, the program, and this material, my entire reality changed.

After 17 years in law enforcement, you transitioned to a career as a mindset coach and investor. What challenges did you face during this transition, and how did you overcome them?

I faced an insane amount of challenges during this transitional period in my life. I lost friends, I was doubted by family, and I left my career, which included a pension and benefits, completely on the belief in my own ability without even having the funds for my next month. That’s something I think most people are not willing to do—leave that safety net. Overcoming that amount of fear was an impossible challenge, or so it seemed, until I changed my mindset and took control of my future. I also learned that by living with deep gratitude, I no longer had problems in my life. The challenges were not stopping me or blocking me from my future but were actually gifts causing me to grow into my best self.

You credit mindset shifts as the foundation of your success. Can you share one specific mindset change that had the greatest impact on your journey?

One of the specific mindset changes that had the greatest impact on my journey was overcoming my limiting beliefs. I realized that my entire life was being controlled by the thoughts I was entertaining, by the beliefs that had been impressed upon me my entire life, and that I had accepted. When I met my mentor, he said, “Go close five multifamily properties in the next two months.” I looked at him and laughed. My response to him was, “That’s impossible. I can’t do that.” He looked at me and said, “You’re absolutely right because you don’t believe that you can.” So I said, “Please teach me how to change that.” Once I learned how to overcome my limiting beliefs by committing to this material and my own personal development, I was able to close all five of those multifamily properties in four months. Prior to that, I only owned one duplex. That was a massive accomplishment and a pivotal moment when I realized I had been limiting myself my entire life.

I had the ability and the infinite potential within me the entire time; I just never believed it. I used to tell myself, “Oh, I can’t do that. I’m not smart enough. I don’t have enough money. I’m not capable of that.” Now, I live life with absolutely no limits. It completely changed my entire life.

The principles of the law of attraction played a significant role in your transformation. How do you explain these principles to someone new to personal development?

The law of attraction is a very interesting law. The reason I say that is because it can be scientifically proven, yet people don’t believe that it exists. Whether you believe it exists or not, it’s still working in your life. Much like the law of gravity—whether you believe in it or not—it still keeps you stuck on this rock. But understanding the law of attraction starts with understanding the law of vibration, which states that everything in our life is moving and is energy.

Once you understand the law of vibration and how powerful it is, you realize that your energy acts like a magnet to the universe and attracts the good or bad that you send out. That energy, or vibration, that you are in on a daily basis makes you the magnet. When you embark on a personal development journey, you learn the tools to set your vibration at the highest level every single day and how to maintain that, even when things appear stressful or hard in your environment. Then the law of attraction starts to work because you are sending out a signal of abundance, gratitude, and love. You begin to attract new people, new opportunities, and abundance in your life.

As a cast member in The Science of Getting Rich, what message do you hope viewers take away from the documentary?

I hope that the viewers of the movie truly take away the message that each of them has within them the infinite potential given to them by their creator to create anything in this life. Once you realize that you can create anything through the use and power of your own thoughts, you become completely limitless. This is the superpower that each of us possesses and holds inside, but many never become consciously aware of it.

I hope this movie will awaken many people to the fact that within each of them exists a potential they have not even started to explore or utilize. No matter what they have accomplished in their life, they need to stop measuring their ability by their past success. If they’ve earned $1 million, they have within them the potential to earn $100 billion. Each of us has that potential.

Just because you haven’t achieved it yet does not mean you do not have the potential to create and achieve anything.

Your story is deeply inspiring for those feeling stuck in their careers or finances. What advice would you give someone currently facing similar struggles?

I think the question people need to ask themselves is: Am I willing to do whatever it takes to change my life, seek abundance, and create a life that I actually love living every single day? If you cannot answer that question with a resounding “yes,” then you will certainly remain where you are, living within the glass ceiling of the limiting beliefs that you continually entertain in your mind.

The difference between the successful and the people who remain in lack, scarcity, debt, and struggle their entire lives is not their ability. The difference is simply the way that they think. So, if you are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve a life of abundance, love, purpose, and fulfillment, it must first begin with changing the way that you think.

The greats all agree that we become what we think about all day long. If you are not thinking about your infinite ability, your abundance, your future self, and believing that you can have it, you will remain where you are for the rest of your life. I believe that nothing I can say can ever convince or motivate anyone to change their life. That drive, that desire, has to come from within. If they have a drive and desire to change, this material is the key to unlocking that infinite potential. So it starts with asking yourself: Are you willing?

Building a $6 million real estate portfolio in less than a year is a phenomenal feat. What key strategies or principles did you apply to achieve this?

I learned to acquire real estate through creative financing strategies, which, funny enough, are available for free on YouTube. The reason I’m happy to say that is because, for most people, their issue is not knowledge; their issue is that they will never take action, even though they know how to achieve something, because of their mindset. They live in lack, fear, doubt, and worry, and they’re held back by their limiting beliefs.

For example, everyone knows how to lose weight, yet for some reason, so many people are obese and unhealthy and cannot lose weight. So it clearly proves that the issue is not the lack of knowledge; the issue is the way people think. Using the strategies of creative financing, I was able to acquire 10 properties in a year that cash flow every month while I sleep. But I didn’t acquire them through gaining any more knowledge. I acquired them once I changed my limiting beliefs and realized I could move past fear and execute because I had a deep emotional connection to my goals.

Once I got clear on those goals and started writing them down and manifesting them every single day, it was merely a matter of time before they became reality. I had spent almost $100,000 on real estate education programs, and I only owned a duplex. The thing that scaled me from one duplex to $6 million in real estate was taking a personal development program that completely blew my mind.

Now that you’re a mindset coach, what is the most common limiting belief you encounter in your clients, and how do you help them overcome it?

Overcoming limiting beliefs is a multifaceted approach. There is no singular solution to fix all of your issues. Overcoming your limiting beliefs involves, number one, being willing to change your life; number two, realizing that you have the infinite ability and potential within you already. It also involves self-image and working on how you see yourself every single day. You must believe in who you can be in the future and bring that person into the now.

Overcoming limiting beliefs involves rewiring how we think. It’s a matter of choosing the thoughts that we impress into our subconscious every single day because our subconscious is what drives our actions, and our actions dictate our results. This is a massive skill to learn—to choose which thoughts you allow and entertain in your mind each day so that you only impress the good, the abundant, and the positive into your subconscious mind. This takes repetition, commitment, and a belief in the possibility of a future without limits.

You’ve had the opportunity to work alongside personal development legends in The Science of Getting Rich. How has their mentorship or collaboration influenced your own coaching methods?

Sharing the same space with legends in the personal development world has been an absolute honor, and I feel so humbled and grateful to be alongside them. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that we are always students before we are leaders. I am always open, willing, and able to learn every single day—to be a better human, a better father, and a better servant to others. Personal development is truly a lifelong journey of improvement. Once you find and tie your goals to your purpose, this journey will lead to the one thing most people search for their entire lives: true fulfillment.

What I’ve learned from the greats in this industry is that the gift is in the giving. I’m not driven by monetary gain, fame, or notoriety. What drives me every single day are the messages I get from my students telling me I have changed their lives and the lives of their families.

Getting messages like that fills me with a feeling you can’t get from money, a career, a job, praise, or any external source. That’s what’s truly powerful—when you find your purpose in life and go after it with everything in your power, mind, and spirit, pursuing it relentlessly every single day. That’s when you achieve absolute fulfillment in life.

Looking back at your journey, what is the one lesson you wish you had known earlier, and how might it have changed your path?

Looking back, the one lesson I wish I had learned earlier was that everything I was searching for in life already existed within me. Understanding that our environment is truly a reflection of what is within changed everything for me. Once I realized that, I stopped living as a victim of my circumstances. Had I known that 20 years ago, my path would have shifted greatly, and who knows where I’d be today.

What I will say is, I’m glad that it didn’t. I am so incredibly blessed and grateful. I have a loving, beautiful, loyal wife and two amazing, bright, beautiful children. Had my path changed, I might not have them today. I am a firm believer that everything happens for you, not to you. The hardest challenges and the most trying times in life are just the universe’s way of pushing you back to the path truly meant for you.

I’m glad I didn’t learn those lessons earlier. I’m glad my life is the way it is now because it is completely abundant in every single way. I wouldn’t wish to go back and change a single thing. Every heartbreak, every letdown, every lost opportunity, every missed promotion, every failed relationship—every single trial and tribulation—led me to the moment I am in right now, and it’s absolutely amazing.
