Interview

Can you tell me the story behind Mix n Match Style? What inspired you to start this handbag line?

Mix n Match Style began as a creative vision rooted in self-expression. I wanted to design handbags that weren’t just accessories — they were personal statements. I’ve always been drawn to color and pattern, and I saw an opportunity to turn that love into wearable art. From the beginning, I imagined a line where women could mix and match their bags like they do with their outfits — not based on fast trends, but on personal mood, style, and individuality.

Honestly, it came from my deep belief that accessories should do more than match an outfit — they should reflect the woman wearing them. I saw a window in the market for beautifully designed, emotionally resonant bags that invite creativity. That’s when I knew I could offer something fresh: thoughtful designs that feel both curated and personal.

Your bags are described as “wearable masterpieces.” How do you approach the creative process when designing a new collection?

The process is deeply intuitive. I don’t start with a strategy — I begin with a feeling. I’ll sit with an idea, sometimes meditate on it, and allow my spirit to guide the direction. It’s more about listening to what wants to come through than forcing a concept. Once I sense the mood or energy, the patterns, colors, and design flow naturally from there.

What role does your artistic background play in the design and color choices of your bags?

A huge one. My artistic training gave me an eye for visual balance, storytelling through shape and texture, and especially color. I see my bag designs as mini-canvases — so every choice, from the placement of a leaf to the shade of pink I use, is rooted in years of creative work combined with a lifelong passion for fashion, color theory, and pattern design.

Why was it important for you to work with vegan leather? What challenges or opportunities has that created for the brand?

I believe in designing with intention, and choosing vegan leather reflects a commitment to ethical, sustainable fashion. That said, finding sources that can print-on-demand in small batches — without mass-producing hundreds of bags — has been a challenge. But it’s also an opportunity. It keeps the brand exclusive, handcrafted, and grounded in purpose, which is exactly the kind of luxury I want to offer. It’s why 80% of my products are premium vegan leather and 20% are napa leather handcrafted from a single piece of leather.

Your pieces are made in small batches. How does that influence the exclusivity and craftsmanship of each handbag?

Small batch production drives everything — even my design decisions. It forces me to think critically about what will translate beautifully to vegan leather, knowing the printing process can subtly shift the final color. Over time, I’ve learned how to adjust my palettes, and I work with partners who care as much about precision and quality as I do. That attention to detail is part of what makes each piece feel special.

How do you stay ahead of trends while still maintaining a unique, recognizable style?

I pay attention to what’s happening in fashion, but I don’t let it lead me. I lead with instinct — what I feel women are craving emotionally in their style. That’s how I stay fresh. My focus is always on timeless individuality with just enough edge to surprise and delight.

Mix n Match Style was selected for the Bureau 2025 Gifting Lounge at NY Fashion Week — what did that moment mean for you and the brand?

It was huge. It meant my designs were going to be seen — and hopefully remembered. It was a chance to show that you can be small, independent, and still make an impression.

Your collections feature bold patterns and solid colors. What themes or emotions are you hoping to express through your designs?

Each grouping in the collection is designed to evoke a specific mood. For instance, Earthy Serenity brings calming, grounded energy. Tropical Radiance is full of bold joy and wanderlust. Quiet Awakening invites renewal and reflection, while Drift & Dwell feels modern, coastal, and balanced. Altogether, they’re designed to speak to where a woman is — or where she wants to be — emotionally and energetically.

How do you envision the woman who wears Mix n Match Style? What statement is she making?

She’s confident in her choices, but she still loves to play. She’s curious, creative, and uses fashion to express who she is. She’s not trying to impress — she’s connecting to herself. When she carries a Mix n Match Style bag, she’s making a statement that says: “I know who I am — and I’m not afraid to show it.”

What’s next for Mix n Match Style? Are there any future collaborations or new directions you’re excited about?

I’m excited to partner with select boutiques and offer exclusive trunk shows tailored to their customers. These biannual collections will include in-store lookbooks and curated combinations designed to inspire. It’s all about building relationships and creating beautiful, immersive experiences that help women discover their unique style.
