Interview

When did it all start?

For Priscila Natalina, fashion has always been more than just clothing—it’s a form of self-expression, storytelling, and artistry. Her journey into the world of styling wasn’t something that happened overnight; rather, it was a culmination of her lifelong passion for aesthetics, her deep appreciation for craftsmanship, and an innate ability to create visually compelling narratives through fashion. Born and raised in Indonesia, Priscila grew up surrounded by rich cultural influences that shaped her artistic perspective. She was always drawn to the world of creativity—whether it was through makeup, textiles, or photography. However, it wasn’t until she moved to the United States years ago to pursue her studies that she truly realized her calling in fashion. Initially studying Fashion Merchandising, Priscila developed a strong foundation in the business and technical aspects of the industry, from trend forecasting to buying strategies. However, her love for the creative process ultimately led her to styling. She began working as a freelance fashion stylist in Winter 2021, gradually making a name for herself through editorial shoots and industry collaborations.

If you were an advertisement, what would your slogan be?

Dressing dreams, one iconic look at a time!

What does your career mean to you?

Growing up, I always loved playing dress-up with my grandma’s closet—layering fabrics, mixing patterns, and pretending I was styling a runway show in her bedroom. Fashion was my first form of storytelling, long before I even knew it could be a career. To now be able to do this as my job—bringing creative visions to life, working with incredible designers, and shaping fashion narratives—is truly beyond what I ever imagined. It’s not just work; it’s a passion that constantly inspires me and fuels my creativity every day.

What is your main motivation?

My main motivation comes from the people around me—my friends, my creative peers, and even strangers I see on the street. Fashion is such a dynamic form of self-expression, and I’m constantly inspired by how people interpret it in their own unique way. Whether it’s the confidence someone radiates in a perfectly styled outfit or the effortless cool of someone who throws pieces together in an unexpected way, those little moments push me to keep evolving as a stylist. Every project I take on is a chance to translate that inspiration into something fresh, bold, and unforgettable.

What is the part you enjoy the most? And the worst?

The part I enjoy the most is meeting new creatives, brainstorming ideas, and bringing fresh visions to life. There’s something so exciting about collaborating with talented designers, photographers, and artists who all bring their own perspectives to a project. Seeing an idea evolve from a concept to a full visual story is incredibly rewarding. The worst moment? Probably when I can’t fully deliver the vision in my head. Sometimes, whether it’s due to time, resources, or unexpected challenges, things don’t come together exactly how I imagined. It’s frustrating, but I’ve learned that creativity is about adaptability—finding solutions and making magic happen even in imperfect situations.

Who are your idols?

My grandma was my very first idol. She had this incredible sense of style and would always dress up for business—nothing too flashy, but always perfectly put together. She didn’t play around when it came to outfits, and that attention to detail and confidence in her look really inspired me. It taught me the importance of dressing with purpose and owning your style, no matter the occasion. She showed me that fashion isn’t just about what you wear—it’s about how you wear it and the energy you bring with it.

In case you need a break in your career, what else would you like to do?

If I ever needed a break from my career, I’d love to work in something that allows me to travel, try new things, and explore new places. I’ve always been someone who loves being outdoors and experiencing different cultures, so a job that combines adventure with learning would be amazing. Whether it’s working in travel, environmental conservation, or something creative that takes me to new destinations, I’d want it to be something that keeps my curiosity alive and helps me grow both personally and professionally.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

I believe there are more opportunities for new artists today, especially with the rise of digital platforms and social media. The ability to share your work globally, connect with like-minded creatives, and even collaborate with established artists has never been easier. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube have democratized the industry, allowing artists to showcase their talent and build a following without relying solely on traditional gatekeepers. That said, with so many people creating and sharing, it’s also a lot more competitive. But I see that as a challenge to push boundaries and stay innovative—there’s definitely a space for fresh, unique voices to thrive.

What would your idyllic life be like?

My idyllic life would be one where I’m constantly inspired, surrounded by creativity and new experiences. I’d love to have the freedom to travel the world, working on exciting projects that challenge me while immersing myself in different cultures and landscapes. A balance between my career and personal life would be key—having time to explore my passions outside of work, like spending time outdoors, connecting with nature, and building meaningful relationships. It would be a life full of collaboration, learning, and growth, where I could keep evolving while staying true to what excites and fuels me.

What are your next projects?

I’m really excited about a few upcoming projects! One that I’m particularly looking forward to is an editorial that’s coming out with L’Officiel Colombia. It’s been an amazing collaboration, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the vision come to life. I’m also working on a few other exciting projects in the fashion and music industry, and I’m always looking for new opportunities to challenge myself and collaborate with inspiring creatives. There’s a lot to look forward to, and I’m ready to keep pushing boundaries with every project.
