Interview

Congratulations on the release of your latest song, “A Perfect Dream.” Can you tell us the story behind this song and what inspired you to write it?

The song ‘A Perfect Dream’ by Vacoustics shares the Disney romance overflowing with gratitude.

In “A Perfect Dream” Vasudha shares the magical feeling of finding true love. The lyrics paint a picture of a fairy-tale romance, where the girl discovers a person who seems too good to be true. She expresses her commitment to always be there for him, no matter where they are or their situation.

The song is written solely by personal experience. When I started to embrace the true love around me I felt immense gratitude towards it and felt like writing a song about it.

You recently won the award for Best Female Vocalist for your debut single “Happy This Way” with the support of AMA. How did it feel to receive this recognition, and what impact has it had on your career?

“Happy This Way” was my first release and receiving award right after releasing my first ever track was just unimaginable. I did not know it would go this far. All I ever decided with that song was to give my best and push it to people as much as possible. But when I walked on the stage in Bangalore to receive the award and found myself surrounded by other amazing artists, it was such a magical experience. It certainly motivated me to keep making more music. It had a huge impact on my career as this song took me to the community of so many amazing artists around the country.

Can you walk us through your creative process when writing and composing a new song? Do you have any specific rituals or routines that help you get into the creative zone?

My creative process is a free zone. I like to write when I am feeling like it. I cannot force myself to sit and make a song. It just comes out, either it takes a month or it just takes 15 minutes. It’s never structured. I take my guitar and experiment with what feels the most clicking for me. I start composing the melody while composing the lyrics at the same time. And there is no particular place I can finish my song in. I might be in an elevator and I find the missing piece. That’s how it goes.

Your presence on Instagram and social media is quite strong. How do you decide what to share with your followers, and how do you balance personal content with your professional work?

On Instagram, I usually try to put out my music as much as possible, because that’s why I chose to be on social media in the first place. I usually share my live shows videos and behind the shows clips. Sometimes I try to motivate other musicians by using what I learned. Social media for me is a great way to build community with other artists and now it feels like a home where all the independent artists are thriving. Now my focus has been completely on sharing my original music with the world.

How do you feel social media has influenced your connection with your fans and the way you promote your music? Are there any specific strategies you use to engage with your audience?

Social media has been a great way to connect with people. With every song I try to change my strategy according to the results of the previous song. I try my best to make my song relatable to people by adding value to my content. That’s my main strategy.

What have been some of the most memorable or impactful moments in your music career so far, particularly related to fan interactions or performances?

The most memorable moments always comes from my live shows, when I see people enjoying my music and dancing to it. It always makes my day. Be it Festivals or other shows, People come to me and try to know me as an artist, take photos and ask for my next performance dates. This enthusiasm and excitement really boost my spirits. If I talk about performances, my performance in world music festival had a huge impact on my career. Sharing a big stage with incredible artists was a big moment for me.

If you were an advertisement, what slogan would you use?

‘Be your most authentic self unapologetically‘

Can you share some insights into any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about? What can your fans look forward to in the near future?

I am really excited for the upcoming originals I am planned to release. Also, I am planning to travel across the country for live gigs so that i can personally connect with my fans.

For aspiring singers and songwriters, especially those using social media to share their work, what advice would you give on building a successful and authentic online presence?

One advice I would like to give aspiring singers and songwriters is to don’t be scared to share your cringe ideas and always show yourself authentically. It’s best to showcase what you are good at, instead of copying what everyone else is doing. Because when we do the kind of music we are best in, it reflects in our work. And that’s the only way to grow.
