Interview
When did it all start?
Here’s the translation of your text: “Music has been my passion since childhood. Starting at the age of 7, I completed music school, college, and the music academy in Kazakhstan. Afterward, I entered graduate school and graduated in St. Petersburg. During my studies, I also toured the United States, did an internship, and participated in competitions. Later, I came to the United Arab Emirates, where I now perform successfully at events, including government functions. I also teach and bring my culture, elements of improvisation, and teaching methods to the UAE. This is what I’ve dedicated my life to, and I plan to continue developing the art in the UAE.”
If you were an advertisement, what would your slogan be?
“Creating magic on the keys, bringing music to life. Fusing the improvisation of jazz with the spirit of Arabic music.”
What does your career mean to you?
For me, a career as a musician is a constant journey of growth and discovery, as musical culture and art are limitless.
What is your main motivation?
As a musician, I am primarily motivated by the joy of the audience when they listen to music, as my mission is to bring culture and happiness to people. I also strive to find the keys to people’s hearts, through which I send my energy, my love, and, of course, the foundational knowledge I gained through my education. This is what motivates me the most. Additionally, I aim to introduce the audience to the limitless colors of the soul that exist in each of us—inspiration and happiness. In my performance, I always feel with my soul what the audience needs, and my main mission is to bring happiness, joy, and the understanding that music is accessible to everyone and that each person will find something personal, unique, and individual in it. This is my mission.
What is the part you enjoy the most? And the worst?
The part I enjoy most is the connection I feel with the audience when I perform. It’s a beautiful exchange of energy, and when I see people moved by the music, it reminds me of why I became a musician in the first place—to bring joy, emotion, and a sense of unity through sound.
Who are your idols?
The greatest influence on shaping my musical taste has undoubtedly been classical musicians and composers such as Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Beethoven, and Claude Debussy. There are so many composers that it’s impossible to list them all. I’ve also been significantly inspired by jazz pianists like Bill Evans, Art Tatum, Thelonious Monk, and Chick Corea. Additionally, I have a deep love for national and folk music, as well as fusion—especially Kazakh music and oriental music composers, such as Shamshi Kaldayakov, and musicians like Vagif Mustafazadeh, the founder of mugham, and Aziza Mustafa Zadeh. These are just a few of the most prominent figures who have influenced the development of my career and musical artistry.
In case you need a break in your career, what else would you like to do?
If I were to take a break from my career, I would likely explore other creative fields that allow me to express myself artistically. This could include composing, teaching, or even engaging in cultural projects that promote the fusion of different musical traditions. However, music is such an integral part of my life that even in a break, I would still be connected to it in some way.
Do you consider that nowadays there are more or fewer opportunities for new artists? Why?
I believe that nowadays, on the contrary, it is very easy to develop one’s art. Especially in the United Arab Emirates, where the audience is cultured and appreciative. The environment we are in is extremely conducive to finding your audience and launching new projects. I think the opportunities are, in fact, limitless today. As for new performers, I believe it depends on their drive to develop. In other words, if you continue to grow and never stop in your craft, art, or profession—and if you approach it seriously and with love—then you will always have ample opportunities for your voice to be heard.
What would your idyllic life be like?
For me, an ideal life is one where I can freely express my creativity, continuously grow as an artist, and build meaningful connections with others. It’s about balancing personal fulfillment with my passion for music—traveling, learning, and sharing my art with the world. Ultimately, an ideal life is one filled with inspiration, joy, and the freedom to pursue what truly matters. To live in harmony with oneself and the external world. Since my name is Venus, it means I was created to live in love and bring light to this world.
What are your next projects?
Actually, I have many grand plans, but in the near future, I want to create another piano composition and release my album. I’m also working on a new music video and promotional material. Additionally, I plan to hold several concerts and masterclasses with the participation of my students, as well as many projects with other musicians, which will be coming soon. I believe this year will be very significant and creative. I hope my listeners will really enjoy what I’m preparing.
