Interview

When did you start to get interested in music and acting?

Singing has always been my passion. When I was 4 years old, I did my first ballet show and I loved it so much that I told my parents that I want to be on stage for the rest of my life. I started singing soon after and later performed all over the world. I participated in the international touring musicals Cinderella, Shrek, Peter Pan, Evita, and in the international touring play 1984 by George Orwell. I performed at a lot of big charity galas and in front of the Singapore President, one time I was even on the stage with David Beckham.

I won 1st Place in the International Vocal Competition American Protégé and performed live in the Carnegie Hall in New York City 2017. In 2019 I participated in the TV show The Voice Kids Germany’ and came all the way to the Semi Finals. My Blind Audition where I sang Defying Gravity made all 4 judges chairs turn and hit 2,6 Million views on YouTube. That was one of the best experiences in my life.

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

WORK HARD AND NEVER GIVE UP!

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

The best part of singing is the feeling, the rush that goes through your whole body and make you feel alive when you perform.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

Music has helped me discover who I am. It has helped me discover all my qualities and it’s my favorite thing to do. Whenever I’m feeling down, I sing – it lifts my spirit.

What does your art mean to you?

My art is everything to me! I first performed when I was 4 years old. I loved it so much that I instantly knew that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I work hard every single day, to be a better performer, a better actress, a better singer. I love and live my passion every day and I am extremely lucky to be able to do that.

Who are your idols?

There are many. One of my favorite artists who has also influenced me a lot is Taylor Swift. I love all of her songs – the melody and the lyrics are very engaging. She is so powerful and is such a nice person too. She started singing at a young age and worked so hard all her life. That inspires me so much as I can really relate to that. She also influenced me to write my own music and be able to express myself through it.

If you didn’t like music and acting, what would you like to do?

I would definitely do something creative and artsy. I would be a fashion designer because I love clothes and all the things you can create with it.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

I think there are more opportunities for new artists because of social media. There are so many different sites you can use to share your music and get people to hear it and listen to it. I like the opportunities that social platforms like YouTube, IG or Tik Tok have given newcomers – Songs are going viral and then getting released and becoming top hits. I want it to keep going in that direction.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

I would like to have a few albums released and perform all over the world. I want to share my music and my voice with others. And then have a home somewhere at the ocean side to recharge with my family and friends.

Which are your upcoming projects?

I have an upcoming feature film which I’m super excited about!
