Maria Aguado - Interview
When did you start to get interested in music?
Music has always been my hobby, at 3 years old I was already singing at home. Music has always been a refuge for me and when I turned 16 I studied the famous vocal technique of maestro Robert Jeantal.
If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?
I’m free, I’m brave.
Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?
Every moment is enjoyable. The composition (which makes your imagination and your stories fly), the recording and production (because you see how they are transforming), the project image (photo and filming sessions), the release of the songs or the album and of course on stage, with the public singing my songs.
Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?
I have always said that my music is for brave people, because the stories that I sing in my songs are stories of improvement, and I think my ten years in the world of music have made me braver and stronger.
What does music mean to you?
Music for me is everything, as I said before, it was always my refuge and today with music I vent and release when I need it most
Who are your idols?
I have always listened to many different music so my Idols are very different: Meccano, Luz Casal, Nina Simone, Aretha Frankling, Prince …
If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?
If I did not dedicate myself to music I would have studied psychology, I have always liked it. But I think I would like music always.
Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?
I don’t think there are fewer opportunities, I think there are many facilities for everyone to get their music, and that is why it is more difficult to gain a foothold in the industry, but I have always said that although 50 people listen to your songs, you have already achieved something important.
What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?
It would be the same life that I have today, but instead of doing concerts in small rooms, doing concerts in stadiums with thousands of people. Always giving importance to what my life is, which is music.
