Arza - Interview

When did you start to get interested in music?

Since the day the piano in my house was opened. From that moment onwards I’ve never stoped playing.

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

Se viene la rumba, se van todas las penas (Rumba is coming, sorrows are leaving).

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

When I sing live in front of people who enjoys listening to my music; that moment makes all the work I put to my songs worth it.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

In saying that which I couldn’t say at various moments. It also makes me see things from another point of view; any idea can loose its weight depending on which music lies beneath it.

What does music mean to you?

My favourite language, the only real way in which I feel I can communicate my thoughts to other people and myself.

Who are your idols?

Kutxi Romero, Melendi, Paco de Lucía, Fito Paez, Joaquín Sabina, the list is endless.

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

Knitting.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

There are more opportunities but also more artists; the key is to think in terms of community.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

The one I have. I write the music I want and play with amazing songwriters which are constantly growing.
