When did you start to get interested in music?

I have been interested in music since I was quite young. I composed my first song when I was 4 year old.
It was only when I grew up and had children that I really went after a career in the music industry. On That time I made the music while the kids were sleeping. And in order not to wake them up, I whispered which has resulted in an airy vocal that I use a lot today. Since then I have released an album and 2 EPs. And today I’m ready with a brand new EP called “Back To The Beginning”

Shake off the blues, go out and dance

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

I love sitting with my guitar and a glass of rum and composing new songs late into the night.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

I have been using music as therapy. I use the music to process all the experience and impressions I get through the day. If I’m stressed, music helps. If I’m happy, the music makes me even happier. Music has also helped me through a divorce and helped me become wiser about myself and my life because it helps me see things from new sides that only emerge when I work with music.

What does music mean to you?

Music will always be a part of me. Without music I would not be able to live. I think music is indispensable to all people because it helps to process emotions and confirm or change states of mind.

Who are your idols?

Many musicians have some particular musicians as their biggest idol and source of inspiration. But my biggest idols are my kids. They are my biggest source of inspiration in my songs.

But the singer I have the most respect for is probably Freddie Mercury.

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

I love spending quality time with my kids and my girlfriend. I love to party or play soccer with my friends. I love drinking wine and rum with my family.  But if I did not have the music I would probably write books for kids.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

There is no doubt that it has become easier to publish music today even if you do not have a label. So there are more options than there were before. But it also means that far more musicians have joined the music industry. So the competition has never been greater than today. On Spotify, 60,000 new songs are released every day. This means that 420,000 songs are released every week, all of which compete to get on “New Music Friday”.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

My idyllic life would be to earn enough to make a living out of the music. But then I remember that my life is already perfect with all the wonderful people I have in my life.
