When did you start to get interested in music?

It all started at a young age, when I was singing along with the country songs my mom used to play. Later on I got a keyboard and taught myself how to play the basic chords. This gave me an opportunity to explore and write songs. Not long after that I bought a guitar, which ended up as home decoration. It didn’t take long to find myself learning guitar and writing even more songs.

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

I love how music has the ability to connect with people. It can make you cry, laugh, dance or even escape from reality. It’s a getaway for people who would love to explore different visions, emotions or worlds.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

I feel like music has been my therapy. And my dream is to inspire people with my music, to eventually be that singer who connects through a song with a lot of people all over the world. I have dealt with depression and the songs I’ve released are all chapters of the story I’d love to tell, to eventually show the world how much I’ve grown as a person. Hopefully that will inspire other’s to do the same.

What does music mean to you?

Music is everything. I wake up to music, listen to music all day and fall asleep to the most beautiful songs. Creating and writing songs makes it even better, because I get to be the person to tell a story and to show people a better world.

Who are your idols?

I have plenty of artists who I see as my inspiration. I grew up with a Dutch country singer Ilse DeLange who made me fall in love with the genre. Other artists are John Mayer, Alicia Keys and Bazzi. Three completely different genres but such lyrical inspirations!

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

Probably something like photography or grafic design. As long as I could be creative.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

Nowadays we have social media, which is such a strong source. But I do believe it’s all up to the artist. If you want to achieve a certain goal, then you really gotta work for it and believe in it what you’re creating.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

I’d just love to wake up knowing music is the one thing on my to do list for that day. Working in the studio, rehearsing for a show, performing at beautiful venues… I’d just love to reach out to as many people as possible and show how music has been my therapy.
