Anthony Denny - Bio

Anthony Denny is a guitarist, bassist, singer/songwriter, and producer with a passion for hard rock and metal. He loves to create thick and powerful soundscapes, with soaring guitar tones and massive rhythm sections, setting the bar higher in terms of genre definitions and sonic aesthetics. Anthony is a well-versed multi-instrumentalist, performing guitar, bass and vocals on his songs. As a kid, Anthony was drawn to music because he was bullied and wanted to find an outlet. His father bought him a guitar, and it didn’t take long for him to immediately develop a fondness for the instrument and become passionate about it. Anthony joined a band, The Lucky Boys and The Young Barons, but eventually decided to focus on his solo work as a way to set the bar higher and take his music to the next level.

Anthony Denny - Interview

When did you start to get interested in music?

I found my interest into music almost 7 years ago, I was bullied constantly from the time I was in first grade all the way to middle school. At first I had no way of coping with it and didn’t know what else to do, but I found myself listening to more music then I had before and eventually my dad got me into guitar lessons and that’s what got me here today.

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

What it takes to get out there.

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

The creativity definitely would be what I consider the best part about music. There’s no limits or rules when it comes to the music you write and on top of that you have the fans that love you and your creativity, not just the music you write or the words you put down but your message you may have put into that song as well.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

Music has helped me with so much whether it’s been my depression, anxiety, tics disorder, or just a bad day I’m having music has always helped and it will continue to always be there for me before anyone else is.

What does music mean to you?

Music to me means more than just a couple of notes, a melody, and some lyrics. Music is a message and that message can save someone’s life or pull them through the worst day of their life. I couldn’t explain how many times music has gotten me out of a bad spot I was in and helped push me forward.

Who are your idols?

Periphery, Killswitch Engage, Five Finger Death Punch, Bullet for my Valentine, and From Ashes to New.

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

If it wasn’t music then I would honestly go to school for architecture or engineering. I always enjoyed building something whether it was me helping build a car with my dad and uncle or construction, I always enjoyed building and if I could do that as a job I’d say I would be happy with that.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

There are for sure more opportunities for new artists! Everyone is at home listening to music waiting to go out and go to shows but we can’t and we won’t for a long time it seems, so right now is the best time to put something out and hope it sticks and if it doesn’t keep making music and throwing it out or start collaborating with other artists and getting a feel of their creativity.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

Definitely playing shows regularly and to be out on tour for sure. It’s been a dream of mine to do a full headline tour or even a co-headliner tour. I hope for that day to come soon but in the mean time I got lots of projects that I’m excited to share with everyone.
