Interview

When did you start to get interested in modeling?

When I was 10 was the first time I ever had any contact with the modeling world, and fell in love with it instantly. I always wanted to be successful in the field, and thankfully had wonderful people supporting me. I’ve done multiple shows during Milan Fashion Week, Vancouver Fashion Week, and Serbia Fashion Week and had the amazing opportunity to meet wonderful designers. I also got published in Vogue 5 times!

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

Beauty is Strength

Which is the part you enjoy the most about modeling?

The fact that I have the opportunity to bring to life a designers vision is something I love. It’s a way of expression and I believe fashion can be used to send important messages out, if done the right way. I also enjoy the fact that I have met wonderful people that help me in every mission I put my head into.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has your journey helped you?

It definitely helped me with my self-esteem and confidence. The fact that I must walk in front of hundreds of people during big fashion events really helped me build up my confidence. At the end of the day, being able to model for someone is a great opportunity, but also it gives me pride to be the one bringing designs to life.

What does competing in this pageant mean to you?

It means being a voice. The fact that I have a chance to use my platform for something important, like my beauty with a purpose project “Treasured Chests” that focuses on empowering women going through breast cancer. The fact that I have a chance to compete for Miss World Canada would not have been possible if I haven’t had the experience of modeling to build my self-esteem so that I am prepared to compete for this title.

The fact that I have a chance to be the voice for women battling cancer is something I am proud of. Beauty is the strength that these women show, and the will to overcome such an illness is amazing and something that I am fascinated with because I helped and watched my mother go through breast cancer and know what they are going through.

Who are your idols?

Mothers and Doctors.

Mothers because they are the most influential educators, and educate a whole new generation. They provide us with the first type of love we ever feel, and the most valuable one.

Doctors because they are life-savers. Their skills and dedication are vital for patients struggling with serious illnesses.

If you didn’t like modeling, what would you like to do?

I love modeling, but my back-up plan is to become a counselor one day. This is one of my biggest goals in life and the reason I am in the Psychology program at school. I would also like to be a professor of either Psychology or Philosophy because I know the importance of making the class fun enough so that someone chooses to pursue it later-on.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

I believe there are more opportunities, with new apps coming up which also mean new opportunities to be seen and to succeed. Technology is only going forward, which means new opportunities will open for people to find opportunities.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

Enjoying life and enjoying each opportunity that comes my way. I believe that doing something you love is the idyllic life for anyone, and enjoying what you are doing.

Which are your upcoming projects?

I will be competing for the Miss World Canada pageant and I cannot wait for November 13! I am excited to meet all the wonderful competitors and to learn more about their beauty with a purpose projects. I also cannot wait to present my own project, and work towards empowering women battling breast cancer.

This will be my first time ever competing in a pageant, so I can’t wait for the opportunity and the amazing experience.
