AIRYEN VAY

Airyen-Vay

SINGER & SONGWRITER

About

Born in a small town in the northern part of Romania, Airyen blends her multicultural upbringing together to influence her uplifting and empowering music. At age 9, Airyen began taking piano lessons. Just next door to her lesson, was a classroom of students taking voice lessons.

The singer recalls hearing them practicing their warm-ups and realizing that she too, wanted to be a singer. She has been consistently training as a singer ever since. Music was love at first sight for Airyen. She knew right from the beginning that it was all she ever wanted to do.

"MOVE ON WITH FAITH"

Interview

When did you start to get interested in music?

I started to get interested in my art since I first start singing. I realized quickly the importance of the feelings, the messages and the energy that you give to people through your songs.

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

Move on with faith.

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

The most part I enjoyed about my art would be authenticity. I believe that being real and honest is very important nowadays more than ever. We are so caught up in social media and things that I am not real. Being able to stay real with myself in my lyrics is what matters the most to me.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

It has helped me enormously. I am pretty shy and sometimes I act like an introvert, so I don’t really express my feelings on real life. Even when I do, I have control over them because I do not like to let people down. I am a people pleaser so I can`t really express my opinions in regards to certain situations.

The only way I am able to be completely honest is through my music. I have no fear in saying whatever I want when I’m writing. It helps me heal because in order to heal and move on from a situation/person is by looking straight to it.

What does music mean to you?

My art is just a representation of certain experiences and beliefs I had. We are all humans and we have similar experiences throughout life, maybe the way I look at a situation or my reaction to something can be inspiring or helpful for somebody else.

Who are your idols?

My idols would be my parents for sure, but if we talk about music influences my list starts with Michael Jackson. To me he is the biggest artist of all times.

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

I never had a plan B. I was fully committed to my work and I never wanted to do anything else. I know It sounds crazy to believe so blindly in something that you don`t consider anything else, but this is something that helped me not loosing focus and hope in my art. I am always pushing for the better and work harder with each project.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

I believe there are more opportunities nowadays because of the internet and social media, of course. But I do not believe that this makes it any easy to have long term success because it`s easier than ever to get caught up in those 5 minutes of fame given by a viral by a TikTok video that goes viral. To me that`s a tool and nothing else.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

I think you are having an idyllic life as long as you love what you`re doing on a daily basis and you get to share your joy with the ones you love.

Which are your upcoming projects?

I am working on my first EP. It`s based on a real story and I am collaborating with some of the most wonderful and talented people I know. It is a beautiful project and it`s something that has never been done before. I can’t wait to share it with the world.
