"If your art needs a gimmick, you’re no longer the artist"

Lønewolf - Interview

When did you start to get interested in music?

My interest in music began in 2001 when I was introduced to a band called Linkin Park. I’ve always been a fan of music but never considered it something I wanted to pursue until I heard the album “Hybrid Theory” that was the first time I actually thought “hmm maybe I can do this too”

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

If your art needs a gimmick, you’re no longer the artist.

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

My favorite part would have to be the creative process. When you expand on an idea you had and create an entire song off of that one idea is incredible to me.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

Music has helped me cope with my mental health. It is my form of therapy and allows me to confront my inner demons.

What does music mean to you?

Music literally means life to me. It is what keeps me going, it is the universal language and one of the few things that will always be there for you.

Who are your idols?

My idols in music would be Corey Taylor, Chester Bennington & John Mayer.

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

I have always had a passion for film. I feel it is an extension of music.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

I think it’s a bit of both. There are more opportunities in the sense of being able to share your music literally with the world without the need of a label/management. You have full control of how and where people can hear you. But it’s a double edge sword because there are so many artists that you have to essentially try and stand out from. Of course there will always be your “viral” artists and it just happens to be right place at the right time but that doesn’t happen very often.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

To be able to call music my career and have it to where I can financially support my family through. That to me is success.
