Viggy - Interview

When did you start to get interested in music?

At the tender age of 12 I started my musical journey with calypso, that feeling of being on stage was very freeing to me and sparked something in me that nothing else could and now here I am!

If you were an advertisement, which would your slogan be?

Changing people one song at a time, the way my first song changed me!

Which is the part you enjoy the most about music?

What I enjoy most about music is the satisfaction and influence my music brings to my fans as I simply express myself and do what I love.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… In which aspects has music helped you?

I have learned through music that you have to take chances and follow you heart. Music has broken me out of my comfort zone and allows me to take chances in not only my musical career but every aspect of life.

What does music mean to you?

Music for me is an escape, with music I feel I am free to be myself and get lost in whatever world I place myself in at that given moment.

Who are your idols?

I look up to artist like Kes, Alicia keys and Kevin gates.

If you didn’t like music, what would you like to do?

Before music I was committed and steadfast to becoming a professional cricketer. I still love the sport but it is now on the back burner.

Do you consider that nowadays there are more or less opportunities for new artists? Why?

I think its falls within a balance. There are more opportunities because with the internet things become more accessible to everyone, but with that being said, you now have to do the extra work to stand out because everyone is place on the same playing field. So bottom line is if you want it bad enough, you will find an opportunity.

What would your idyllic life as an artist be like?

I want to influence people around the world through my craft. I want my music to mean more than a great melody or vibe, I want “VIGGY” to be the driving force to encourage everyone to keep making those fearful steps to better themselves.
